Ortensia is held to the body as far as the knee, then let go into a flare. The neckline curves in two soft peaks across the bust, and the sleeves are their own piece, worn with the gown or left off. The lace carries the pattern, worked open so what is under it still reads. The hem runs out into a chapel train, the shorter of the two usual ones, and the back fastens with buttons down the spine, which is the side the ceremony sees.
